Soros’ links to anti-Trump protests
Whenever there is a high-profile protest, the name of George Soros always seems to pop up, and the riots currently taking place in various cities across the United States against the election of Donald Trump are no exception.
While it may appear as though Soros is a simple and appealing target for those wary of influential global elites, reasons for cynicism can be justified due to his role in past protests that received widespread media attention, such as his role in financing Black Lives Matter riots as well his influence during the so-called revolution in Ukraine.
The reason many are once again pointing the finger at Soros for the latest protests taking place in the US is due to his links with the non-profit organization, MoveOn.org, which has been the driving force behind these riots.
In their press release, MoveOn.org called on people to take to the streets to reject Trump’s “bigotry, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and misogyny and demonstrate our resolve to fight together for the America we still believe is possible”.
Within two hours of the call-to-action, MoveOn members had created more than 200 gatherings nationwide, with the number continuing to grow. While claiming to promote peaceful protests, the demonstrations saw widespread acts of violence and even vicious individual attacks on Trump supporters.
Soros’ links to these protests are due to the fact that he pledged $2.5 million to MoveOn.org in 2004 making him by far the largest individual donor along with Peter Lewis, chair of the insurance company Progressive Corporation.
In fact, the organization itself was launched in 1998 to oppose the impeachment of then-president Bill Clinton, further ringing alarm bells over the friendly relationship between Soros and Hillary’s campaign, with the Hungarian billionaire mentioned over 50 times in the emails released by WikiLeaks.
Whether Soros still plays an active role in the organization or if he simply played a major part in its creation remains unclear, but his implications with other high-profile uprisings in recent years has created an air of suspicion around the latest riots hitting US cities.
